How it works
Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) steers a drill head underground along a planned path. The crew tracks the head from the surface and corrects its course as it goes. When the pilot bore reaches the exit pit, the hole is reamed to size and your conduit or pipe is pulled back through it.
When it's the right call
- Crossing a road or driveway that can't be cut or closed
- Runs under sidewalks, parking and finished landscaping
- Paths that have to pass close to lines already in the ground
- Long fiber runs where trenching would mean miles of restoration
Our equipment
We run current drills from Ditch Witch and Vermeer, sized to the bore. Support trucks bring water and drilling fluid to the site so the rig never waits. With the right rig, no bore is out of reach.
Four steps, one crew
The same sequence on every bore.
Locate
811 ticket called and every existing line marked before a single pit is dug.
Pilot bore
The drill head is tracked and steered under the obstacles on the planned path.
Ream & pull
The hole is opened to size and your conduit or pipe is pulled back through.
Restore
Pits filled, surface restored, site swept. We leave it the way we found it.
